ACM Best IT Thesis Award - IT SPY 2024

Jiří Janota earned second place in the prestigious IT SPY 2024 (IT Student Project of the Year Czech & Slovakia ACM Chapter) competition with his thesis Honeybee comb mapping using a robot. It presents innovations that benefit ecological research and beekeeping by developping an algorithm enabling robots to autonomously create detailed semantic maps of honeycombs, offering insights into hive health and bee behavior. He hopes that his research will not only support ongoing projects but also aid biologists and beekeepers in preserving vital bee populations.
